On 20/03/2008 GRPS had their speech day celebration. It was great. The team had done a great job. As a parent, I am proud to know about the school's achievements and awards after listening to Mrs. Chew's speech.
The dancers were great too. Their dance, costume, make up and style was very good.
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!

Preparing your child for P1
P1 – Healthy Meal Programme 2008

P1 Food Package 2nd - 4th Jan 2008
The Healthy Meal Programme is one of the school’s initiative which aims to cultivate good eating habits through an integrated induction programme for all our Primary 1 children.
The programme will run for the first three days . During the programme, your child will learn to eat healthy meal prepared for them and cultivate good eating habits of having
a well-balanced meal during their recess time. The healthy meal will consist of main meal, dessert and our school’s bottled drink.
Research has shown that food preference are generally acquired during childhood and that eating habits
acquired after adolescence are resistant to change. Therefore, the school plays an important role in cultivating good eating habits and providing the environment that is conducive to the adoption of healthy eating practices. Apart from that, your child will also learn proper table manners lesson conducted by our teachers.

Breast Cancer talk, letter by parent 1 Dec 2007
Dear PSG,
I attended the talk on Breast Cancer @ GRPS on 1 Dec 2007. I personally support Greenridge Primary School for organizing such an important talk. The two speakers were Dr Tan Yah Yuen, Consultant Breast Surgeon and Dr Esther Chuwa, Associate Consultant, from KK Breast Unit. They spared their time apart from their busy schedules all the way to our school to make known to women on the risk of Breast Cancer which is common in Singapore now. The topics covered were very useful and informative. The information given helped me to understand the facts, risks, symptoms, treatment and Mammography. I am very sure that everyone went home with a good knowledge, useful information and awareness. I hope GRPS will organise such session next year and hoping that many women not only from age 40 and above will attend but younger women should make their time to attend, anyway it is free and it is held at the school, very convenient. I personally thanked Mrs Chew, Mrs Tan and teachers for inviting the two honorable speakers.Thank you.Regards Massita

Visit to Old Folk Home organised by Staff Welfare
On 20 November 2007, 22 teachers set off at 1 pm to Clementi and Marsiling with the objectives of Hands on, Minds on, Hearts on to help the less fortunate. With the donations from GRPS staff, we are able to purchase essential items like canned food, biscuits, instant beverages and toiletries. The 60 vulnerable senior citizens waited excitedly for us at their void deck. Our warm and caring teachers played games with the seniors. This brought much delight and cheers to them. They enjoyed the snacks and drinks that we bought for them. Through this experience, I realized although money is the most practical gift, it is not what they want. What they desire is intangible and that is our care and concern.
On behalf of SWC, I would like to express my appreciation to those teachers who participate in this meaningful activity. We look forward to your continued support to make a difference in our community.

Appreciation to all parents helpers during the food carnival 16/11
Dear Parent Volunteers,
I would like to express my sincere appreciation and thanks to all volunteers who had sacrificed their precious and selfless time and efforts towards the bazaar nite. Thru all your efforts, Janet had informed that we managed to raise a total of $981. It is a remarkable result as it was only abt 3hrs and I can see that each and everyone was so enthusiastic. We have once again proven that WE CAN DO! WE MAKE IT! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE cos the money raised will be channelled to the needy pupils, local charities adopted by the school and overseas missions. These funds will definitely help and go a long way.
The response was so good and out of expections that I believed we all regret that we did not make more! But never mind, there will be more opportunities going forward and as a consolation to ourselves, the food were all sold and there is no wastage, except that due to the power failure, we did not managed to finish the steamed corn.
Perhaps this is something for us to learn and have contigency plan in future to prevent similar occurences.
I understand that many of you had graciously donated in your own ways by not claiming for the food prepared. For those who are claiming, I believe they also claim below costs and all these are something that deserves my salute to you all. Good deeds begets good deeds.
For those who are claiming, pls feel free to claim from Janet and I will shoulder the full expenses and settle with her. I could only help to contribute in planning, organising and networking due to my work schedule and other community involvements. To show my appreciation to my supportive parent volunteers, I will not hesistate to donate the total claims.
On befalf of the Chairman and PSG committee, I would like to thank all of you again and we will let you know how we could contribute to the next project, Orientation Day.
Yours sincerely,
Mdm Shirley Soh, Vice Chairman, 2007 PSG Exco
